Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions families have when considering our home.

What is the staff-to-resident ratio?
We maintain a very low staff-to-resident ratio, typically 1 caregiver to 3 or 4 residents. This ensures that every individual receives prompt, attentive, and highly personalized care throughout the day and night.
Are family visits allowed at any time?
Absolutely. This is your loved one's home, and we encourage family visits. While we ask visitors to be respectful of quiet hours and meal times, you are welcome to visit, share a meal, or spend time together in our common areas or their private room.
How do you handle medical emergencies?
Our staff is trained in First Aid and CPR, and we have protocols in place for any medical situation. In the event of an emergency, we immediately contact 911, followed by the resident's designated primary contacts and their physician.
Do you accommodate special diets?
Yes. We understand that nutrition is vital for seniors. All meals are home-cooked, and we easily accommodate diabetic, low-sodium, pureed, and other prescribed or preferred diets.
What daily activities are provided?
Activities are tailored to the interests and abilities of our current residents. They typically include gentle morning exercises, arts and crafts, music therapy, movie afternoons, gardening in our secured patio, and structured cognitive games.
What does care cost, and what payment types do you accept?
Rates depend on the level of care and room type. We accept private pay, long-term care insurance, and Washington State Medicaid (DSHS long-term care funding). Contact us for a personalized quote after we learn about your loved one's needs.
Do you accept Medicare, Medicaid, or long-term care insurance?
Yes. We accept Washington State Medicaid (DSHS) long-term care funding and long-term care insurance. Medicare does not pay for room and board in an adult family home but continues to cover medical care, hospital stays, and prescriptions. We're happy to walk you through your options.
How many residents do you serve, and do you have availability?
Washington State limits adult family homes to six residents, which allows us to provide highly personalized care. We currently have limited availability. Please call or submit a contact form to ask about open spots and schedule a tour.
What happens if my loved one's care needs increase over time?
We reassess care plans regularly and work with families and physicians to adjust support as needs change. Many residents age in place with us as their needs increase. If a resident eventually requires a higher level of care than we can safely provide (e.g., skilled nursing), we help families plan a smooth transition.
Can residents bring their own furniture or personal belongings?
Absolutely. We encourage residents to bring familiar furniture, photos, and keepsakes so their room feels like home. We work with you to ensure the space is safe and comfortable. Personal belongings help with orientation and well-being, especially for those with memory care needs.
What conditions do you have experience with?
Our staff has experience with dementia and memory care, Parkinson's, COPD, post-stroke recovery, diabetes management, mobility challenges, and general frailty. We coordinate with physicians and specialists to support complex needs. Tell us about your loved one's condition so we can discuss how we can help.
How do you communicate health updates to family?
We call designated family contacts promptly for any change in condition, after a fall, or before a doctor visit. We also provide regular updates by phone or in person when you visit. You can reach the care team anytime; we want you to feel informed and confident in your loved one's care.
